Iztuzu beach is one of the rare beaches where the caretta carettas feel comfortable about leaving their babies alone. Iztuzu also won an award for being the second best beach for preserving its natural state, and is literally a natural wonder. It is said that the beach would be unique with fresh water on one side, and Mediterranean on the other. Starting from the mountains that stretch vertically, and closing the entrance of the Dalyan delta, the beach's sand is golden yellow and very fine. The water on the other hand is crystal clear. With a shallow bank, the Iztuzu beach has a velvety touch under your feet when you walk on it.
Iztuzu used to be a port used by the Kaunos people in the ancient times. According to an epitaph found in Iztuzu, this place used to be a port of entry, and Kaunos residents used to sell salt, slaves, and salted fish here.
Another surprise awaiting you on the beach is the dance of the sea and the shore. The views that are created by the sea, is the best proof of the boundless creativity of the nature. The beach is 5400 meters long. No facilities are allowed except for the dressing cabins. Also, pets like cats and dogs aren't allowed on the beach, so as to protect the Caretta Caretta eggs. It is forbidden to stick beach umbrellas on the marked spots as well.
The Iztuzu beach is accessible by two ways. Either you can reach it via the boats that leave from the Dalyan port, after a 35-40 minutes long fun trip, or you can take the minibuses that leave from next to Dalyan post office. This trip goes around the lake of Sulundur between the pine trees, and is also quite fun. But in our opinion, you should go on for the boat trip, since the spot you'd be arriving at the beach is more beautiful, and it is also more fun to take the boat to Iztuzu beach.
You envy even your own shadow when you walk around on the Iztuzu beach.
