You should definitely go for a boat trip in the delta when you come to Dalyan. You cannot give a clear answer to the question of what it should feel like to be in the heart of the nature before you experience the breath taking panorama of the magical reed bed in the natural wonder Dalyan delta, as if you'd be in a giant labyrinth, or from bird's eye view as if you'd be looking at the world map
As the boat moves ahead in the reed bed, the splendor of the mountains with steep rocky formations that rise above your head is almost like the proof of nature's offering you all of its generosity. The name of the colorful bird with a long beak that you suddenly come across, and displays the intricacies of fish hunting for you in the reed bed where 180 different species of birds live is the kingfisher. Observers from all around the world come to Dalyan to see these types of rare birds. The water is so crystal clear that you can observe the fish swimming in the canal accompanying the boat during the entire trip.
The spots like the bars, restaurants, and cafes along the river are single stored, and harmonize with the rest of the surroundings. One of the sightseeing spots as you travel towards Iztuzu are the historical king graves on the right hand side. One becomes speechless at their magnificent sight, and they've been around for 3000 years. It used to be allowed to visit the king graves back in the day, but nowadays it is forbidden due to the damage done on them since 4 years.
You can see the city walls of the antique Kaunos city on your right hand side. You gradually lose your sense of direction as the boat moves along; just when you think you'd be going towards the right, the captain veers in the opposite direction. Over time the curves and ponds have formed in the Dalyan delta due to geographical conditions. As you move ahead towards the sea from the Dalyan delta, you reach the Iztuzu beach, which was chosen the second best natural beach in the world, where Aegean meets the Mediterranean, and you can swim in salt or fresh water.
When you travel upwards in the delta on the other hand, you reach the village of Köyceðiz. In case you are participating in one of the daily tours, the Köyceðiz village is the second spot the tour stop by after the mud baths. The boat casts anchor in the very center of the lake, and you can enjoy swimming in fresh water. Also, don't be surprised if you see dalyans (weir for fishing) when you travel in the Dalyan delta.
